Principal Secretary (PS) for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Esther Thaara Muoria, has signed a Memorandum of Engagement with the EMBRACE Centre of Excellence for E-Mobility and Battery Circularity to strengthen training in electric mobility and green technologies.
The partnership seeks to equip trainees with practical skills in electric mobility, battery circularity, certification, innovation and digital energy management as Kenya positions itself for a transition towards sustainable transport and green industrialisation.
Muoria said the collaboration would help align technical training with emerging technologies and the changing demands of the labour market, ensuring that graduates acquire competencies relevant to evolving industry needs.
Under the agreement, the two parties will support the capacity building of TVET trainers to deliver the emerging e-mobility curriculum through practical laboratory sessions and industry exposure.(Education News Kenya — https://educationnews.co.ke/news/ps-muoria-seals-partnership-to-drive-electric-mobility-training-in-tvets)
The engagement will also strengthen cooperation between training institutions, government and industry, creating closer links between classroom instruction and workplace requirements.
As electric mobility gains attention as part of the shift towards cleaner energy and transport solutions, the partnership is expected to strengthen the role of TVET institutions in preparing a skilled workforce for opportunities in the green economy.
Muoria emphasised the importance of industry-driven training in equipping young people with practical competencies, fostering innovation and responding to new employment opportunities created by technological advancements.
The collaboration reinforces the State Department’s commitment to modernising technical training and ensuring that TVET remains responsive to Kenya’s industrial transformation and sustainable development goals.
By incorporating e-mobility and green skills into technical education, the partnership seeks to position TVET graduates to contribute to the country’s emerging green industries while meeting the demand for specialised technical expertise.
