ICT trainers serving under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP), known as ICT Tots, have appealed to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to help secure payment of allowances they say have been outstanding since June.
Trainers from Kapsabet, Eldoret and Iten told Education News that they have not been paid for training they did at county and sub-county levels in June.
They said they were among the selected trainers who facilitated ICT skills training for more than 60,000 Junior School teachers across the 47 counties. The training was meant to equip teachers with the digital skills needed to bring technology into teaching and learning.(Education News Kenya — https://educationnews.co.ke/news/ict-trainers-appeal-to-tsc-over-unpaid-june-allowances-for-training-60-000-teachers)
The trainers said they took part in the training as required but have yet to receive their dues months later. They asked TSC to engage the offices responsible for processing the payments, find out the cause of the delay and help ensure the allowances are released.
They also want clear communication from the relevant offices on the status of their allowances and when they can expect payment. They urged TSC to work with KDEAP officials and other responsible offices so that the matter is resolved without further delay.
The trainers said timely payment would recognise their contribution to the national ICT capacity-building programme.
