Kenyans seeking a Certificate of Good Conduct can now obtain the document on the same day at two Huduma Centres in Nairobi, in a move expected to ease delays for applicants facing urgent employment and travel deadlines.
Huduma Kenya has confirmed that the same-day service is available at Huduma Centre GPO, located in the Teleposta Building on Kenyatta Avenue, and Huduma Centre City Square, on Haile Selassie Avenue next to the Technical University of Kenya, both in the Nairobi Central Business District.
At the two centres, the new Multi-Biometric System (MBIS) is fully operational. Applicants undergo biometric capture and the certificate is ready within minutes or hours on the same day, available for download on the e-Citizen platform.

The Certificate of Good Conduct, officially known as a Police Clearance Certificate, is issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). It provides information on an applicant's criminal record status and is commonly required for recruitment, professional registration, immigration procedures, visa applications and other official transactions.

Previously, applicants had to wait between submitting their applications and receiving the final certificates, which sometimes created difficulties for those working against strict deadlines. The same-day arrangement is expected to benefit job seekers, professionals, students and Kenyans pursuing opportunities abroad.
All other Huduma Centres, more than 50 in total, also offer the service, but with a target turnaround of 24 hours rather than same-day issuance. The DCI has connected 26 centres in total for faster processing, including those in Kajiado, Machakos, Thika, Murang'a, Nyeri, Nanyuki, Meru, Embu, Kerugoya, Chuka and Isiolo. Applicants at those centres receive an SMS notification within 24 hours.
Applicants must first apply through the e-Citizen platform by selecting the DCI service and then the Police Clearance Certificate. They must pay the application fee of Sh1,050, then download and print the C24 form and the payment invoices. They should then carry their original national identity card and the C24 form to either the GPO or City Square centre for fingerprinting.

Applicants are encouraged to confirm participating locations and requirements through official Huduma Kenya communication channels before travelling. Completing the e-Citizen application does not automatically guarantee same-day issuance, as processing remains subject to the applicable verification requirements.

The initiative forms part of continuing efforts to improve the delivery of government services by reducing bureaucracy and waiting times.
