A family in Akipijan, Kokare Location, Teso North Constituency in Busia County is mourning Bridgit Atyang, a Form Four candidate at St Augustine Kamolo Secondary School, who died days before she was due to sit her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. The KCSE written papers begin on Monday, November 2.
Her parents, Moses Ojuma and Phyllis Apale, are devastated by the loss of their daughter, whose death has cut short her secondary school education.
According to the family, Bridgit fell ill on Wednesday while at school and asked the school administration for permission to go home for medical attention.

When she reached home, the family rushed her to Kocholia Referral Hospital for treatment, but she died shortly afterwards.

The death has left the family in mourning and affected the school community, where students and teachers have lost a colleague who was preparing for her final secondary school examinations.
The circumstances surrounding her illness and death had not been established at the time of publication.
