The new Kericho County Governor has ordered for a mapping exercise to enable establishment of a 3,000 student scholarship program for students in vocational colleges.
Dr. Erick Mutai told the heads of the Department of Education led by County Executive Committee Member for Education, Edna Ruto and her Chief Officer Mrs. Eunice Sigei to urgently undertake a mapping exercise in order to facilitate the launch of the program.

The Governor was speaking during a meeting with Principals of the 12 vocational colleges in the County where he briefed them on his plan for the scholarship programme.
Dr. Mutai who was flanked by his deputy, Engineer Fred Kirui said that his government was passionate about magnifying vocational training and its crucial role in empowering the youth.
Early this year, the outgoing County government disbursed bursaries worth Ksh.261 million which delayed due to technicalities surrounding the County Bursary Fund Act.
The Act was later amended favorably by the Kericho County assembly.
