Ndere Youth Polytechnic manager Raphael Nyadenge has called on those who graduated from the institution but have fees arrears to pay only 30% of the arrears so that they pick their certificates.
Speaking in his office, Nyadenge revealed that the school is holding thousands of certificates due to unpaid fees arrears hence the waiver.
‘Graduates from polytechnics and VTCs have not been serious in collecting their certificates because many government institutions are keen on skills and not certificates,’ he said.
He added that those who have failed to pick their certificates have opted to venture into businesses where certificates aren’t mandatory.
“Many students who did their exams in January have secured jobs in plumbing and hairdressing among others. Such students need to pick certificates so that they can seek contracts” he noted.
He also lauded the county government for remitting Shs 30 million to their accounts over the last five years.
“The resources have helped buy equipment and install Wi-Fi in institutions to ease way for doing business or work,” he added.
