Mogogosiek Town in Konoin Sub-county, Bomet County, was awash with joy and celebration today as residents, teachers and parents staged a heroic welcome for young athletics prodigy Natasha Chepkemoi, a Grade Two pupil at Saseta Primary School, following her stunning performance at the national primary school athletics championships in Kisumu.
The six-year-old sensation captured national attention after clinching the gold medal in the 2,000m race walk, outpacing competitors in a performance that left spectators and officials in awe.
Her victory has now earned her a coveted call-up to represent Kenya at the upcoming East Africa Games scheduled to be held in Arusha, Tanzania in August.
The celebrations at Mogogosiek town were marked by songs, ululations, and dancing as the young champion was paraded through cheering crowds.

Residents described her achievement as a rare and inspiring moment for the community, especially given her age and debut season in competitive athletics.
Speaking during the celebrations, her coach, Clement Korir, who is also her father, said Natasha’s success is the result of discipline, natural talent and consistent training at home.
“This is her first year to run competitively and yet she has shown incredible focus and stamina,” he said, praising her determination and calmness under pressure.
Her mother, Victory Korir, expressed pride in her daughter’s achievement, noting that running has long been part of the family culture but was never pursued at this level.
“We used to run casually during our school days, but Natasha’s dedication and natural ability have taken it to another level. She has made us very proud as a family and as a community,” she said.
Natasha, who is the second-born in her family, has quickly become a source of inspiration to her peers at Saseta Primary School and across Mogogosiek Ward. Teachers described her as focused, disciplined, and highly promising, despite her very young age.
Her remarkable journey from Saseta Primary School to the national stage has sparked widespread celebration in Bomet County, with many hailing her as a shining example that talent, determination, and passion know no age limits.
