Murang’a KUPPET becomes first to launch digital BBF system

KUPPET Murang’a becomes the first branch in Kenya to launch a digital Benevolent Benefit Fund system, enabling online claims and services.

KUPPET Murang’a branch has made history after becoming the first branch in the country to launch a fully digital Benevolent Benefit Fund (BBF) system.

The groundbreaking platform, unveiled this week, allows members to access essential union services entirely online, marking a major shift from traditional manual processes.

Through the new system, teachers can now submit BBF claims digitally, book the branch van online, and access a regularly updated calendar of upcoming union events.

Branch Assistant Executive Secretary Michael Murigi described the innovation as a transformative step in modernising union operations.

He said the move is aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, and convenience for members.

“This platform will ensure that our members can access services anytime and from anywhere without the need to visit the branch offices physically,” Murigi said, noting that the digital transition will significantly reduce paperwork and processing delays.

Under the new system, BBF claims will be processed fully online, enabling members to submit required details electronically and track progress with ease.

The van booking service, often utilised during bereavement support and official branch functions, has also been integrated into the platform to allow seamless scheduling and coordination.

In addition, members will be able to view upcoming activities, meetings, and key events through the digital calendar feature, ensuring improved communication and timely participation.

To log in, members are required to use their Teachers Service Commission (TSC) number together with their registered phone number.

According to Murigi, this secure authentication method safeguards members’ information while maintaining a user-friendly experience.

Murigi emphasised that Murang’a’s pioneering move sets a new benchmark for other branches within the union, expressing confidence that the innovation will inspire wider adoption of technology across the organisation.
