Football excitement is already building up in Kakamega East Sub-county after the official pools for the 2026 KSSSA Term Two ball games were released ahead of the much-awaited tournament set for June 5 to 7 at Mukumu Boys High School.
The boys’ football category has once again attracted massive attention, with traditional giants Mukumu Boys and Shanderema Boys expected to headline the competition following their dramatic rivalry in recent years.
Mukumu and Shanderema
Hosts Mukumu Boys have been placed in Pool A alongside Shipalo Secondary School, Magale Secondary School, and Lwanda Secondary School.
The home side will be looking to use familiar grounds and fan support to push for another county qualification slot.
Pool B features defending champions Shanderema Boys, who will battle it out against Malimili Secondary School, Bishop Sulumeti Secondary School, and Lugala Secondary School in what many fans are already calling the “group of fire.”
Rivalry expected
Last year’s final between Shanderema Boys and Mukumu Boys remains one of the most talked-about school football matches in the region.
The encounter, initially played at Solyo Grounds, attracted huge crowds and intense fan pressure before it was shifted to SIGA Polytechnic.
Shanderema eventually emerged victorious after a highly contested showdown.
With memories of that explosive final still fresh, football fans are eagerly waiting to see whether Mukumu Boys can reclaim dominance on home soil or if Shanderema Boys will continue their supremacy in Kakamega East football.

However, dark horses such as Bishop Sulumeti and Malimili could also shake up the tournament and spoil the expected Mukumu-Shanderema showdown.
Thrilling football action
The competition is expected to draw large crowds from across Kakamega County, with students, alumni, and football lovers preparing for three days of thrilling school football action.
As the countdown begins, one big question remains: Who will represent Kakamega East at the county games this year?
