Nyakundi asked leaders in the region to forge a united front in development.

The Kisii County Woman Representative, who was present, said her office has funded the construction of a water borehole in seven of the 9 sub-counties and promised to complete the remaining two by the end of the year.

She decried the long distances travelled by school children to the river to fetch water instead of attending lessons.

She asked the residents to work hard on their farms to produce enough food for their children, adding that good nutrition is essential for the pupils’ physical and intellectual growth.

She said that through her Donya Charity Foundation, she will endeavour to support education development in the region through the provision of sanitary towels to enable girls to stay in school during their periods, and boxers to the boys to make them feel part of the donations.
