Kitutu Chache North Member of Parliament (MP) Japhet Nyakundi has urged university students from his constituency to remain disciplined and focused in their studies, saying education without respect and self‑control leads to pride and eventual downfall.
Addressing the students during a meeting on Saturday, Nyakundi cautioned the youth against drug abuse, gambling, and idleness, warning that such habits breed poverty and erode dignity. He reminded them that education should mould learners into dependable members of society rather than creating social divisions.
“You must remember that the education you acquire is meant to shape you into a reliable person in society, not to set boundaries from others,” he said.

During the session, students highlighted challenges they face in accessing constituency education funds, citing delays, cases of exclusion, and allegations of favouritism by officials.
In response, the MP promised transparency in the bursary allocation process and announced plans to digitize applications to enhance accuracy, accountability, and timely disbursement.
Nyakundi further encouraged the students to form support groups that would foster unity and mutual assistance, noting that collective responsibility would accelerate development in the constituency.
