The Member of Parliament for Navakholo Emmanuel Wangwe has promised to provide all secondary schools in his constituency with buses.
Speaking at Fr. Kemper Sisokhe Secondary School recently after commissioning four classrooms and a brand new bus Wangwe, said that the buses will facilitate movement of teachers and learners, boosting the academic standards.
“The buses will ease academic tours and engagement in sports activities besides generating extra revenue for the institutions,” he said.
Wangwe who is the National Assembly chief whip cautioned students against burning schools saying the habit impacts negatively on their performance leave alone being an extra burden on parents in terms of imposed fines.
It is, however, imperative to note that Navakholo constituency has 38 secondary schools out of which only 6 have so far received buses courtesy of National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF)
The school principal, Fredrick Okwero thanked the MP for the bus and for sponsoring students to a tune of Sh739,000 in bursaries.
It is also important to note that the school population is 739 learners and so the bursary disbursed translates to Sh1,000 per head.
Despite bursary disbursement the school is owed Sh6,124,479 in fees arrears as of October, 2021.
