Kanduyi Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) John Makali has reiterated his commitment to develop infrastructure in all public primary and secondary schools to boost education standards.

Speaking on behalf of Makali while addressing education stakeholders at Kimugui Girls Secondary School during a funds drive towards the construction of an administration block and ablution block, NG-CDF Committee Chairman Augustine Tella noted that the legislator has put measures in place to ensure the provision of sufficient bursaries to needy students and timely disbursement of funds meant to facelift infrastructure and other facilities.

“Today, Hon. Makali has sent me with a Ksh2 million cheque to start the foundation of the two projects and as soon as more money is disbursed into the NG-CDF kitty, he will send the remaining Ksh4 million,” he said.

The Constituency Office Manager Mr. Rodgers Munyasia urged the youth to enroll in large numbers at nearby TVET institutions such as Bungoma National Polytechnic to gain useful knowledge and skills.

Friends School Ekitale Principal Mrs. Jacobeth Lusweti urged candidates to thoroughly prepare for the forthcoming national examinations and asked parents to pay school fee balances on time and reduce dependence on government cash.

KUPPET Bungoma Chairman David Barasa slammed Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu for frequent late disbursements of capitation funds.

He said that school heads are having a hard time because of the late disbursements and when the money arrives it is often less than the expected amount in addition to mounting debts owed to suppliers.

Bungoma Woman Representative Catherine Wambilianga issued a stern warning to men preying on school girls cautioning them that they will face the full force of law.

The school Board of Management (BoM) Chairman Samuel Mukusi thanked all stakeholders for their support in ensuring that the school has all essential facilities.
