The teams’ success at the East African Championships has further cemented Bungoma’s reputation as a powerhouse in school sports, with the institutions continuing to produce competitive sides across different disciplines. In a major gesture to support the young athletes, Barasa settled KSh1 million in outstanding school fees for some of the students, providing relief to the beneficiaries and their families.
The legislator congratulated the teams for their discipline, hard work and determination, describing their achievements as a source of pride for Bungoma. The recognition is expected to motivate the students to pursue greater success in future competitions while inspiring other schools across the county to invest in sporting talent.
Bungoma’s dominance in volleyball, hockey, basketball and handball has placed the county firmly among Kenya’s leading school sports regions, with its teams increasingly making an impact beyond the national arena.
