Maseno School has been crowned national debate champions following an outstanding performance at the just-concluded national debate competition held in Machakos, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s co-curricular achievements.
The school’s Amani Club debate team emerged top among competitors drawn from across the country, after navigating a series of rigorous and intellectually demanding rounds. The competition tested participants on critical thinking, public speaking, and the ability to construct and defend arguments on contemporary issues.
Throughout the contest, the Maseno team displayed consistency, confidence, and depth in argumentation, qualities that set them apart from their peers. Their articulate presentations and strong rebuttals impressed adjudicators, ultimately earning them the top honor at the national level.
The team was led by debate patron Mr. Ocholla Alloys Ochola, whose guidance and mentorship played a key role in shaping the students’ performance. Judges commended the team for their organization, clarity of thought, and ability to engage effectively with complex topics.
The school Chief Principal Peter Otieno emphasized the importance of balancing academic pursuits with co-curricular activities. He notes that while academic excellence remains a priority, participation in activities such as debate is essential in nurturing well-rounded learners equipped with communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
