Makueni Woman Representative Rose Museo has called on the government to tighten enforcement of laws that protect children against sexual abuse, saying those who impregnate schoolgirls should face tough legal action.
Museo said cases of school children getting pregnant affect their education and future, while calling on parents, teachers, community leaders and security agencies to collaborate in protecting children.

Speaking during the distribution of sanitary pads to schoolgirls in Mbooni Constituency, Museo, together with the area Deputy County Commissioner Baraza Atilla, said perpetrators who sexually abuse children should not go unpunished, emphasising the importance of reporting such cases to the relevant authorities for the law to take its course.
The leaders also called on the community to stop concealing cases of child abuse and instead report them early so that victims can be protected and perpetrators held accountable under the law.
