Machogu launches modern dormitory at Mabera Girls, asks parents to educate girls

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has commissioned a Sh 10 million worth, modern dormitory that was built by the Ministry of Education at St. Mary’s Mabera Girls Secondary School the

Machogu who was accompanied by ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo also commissioned free public Wifi at five public points that include Mabera and Kiendege Technical Training Institutes, Isebania, Ntimaru, and Kegonga markets.

They also oversaw the groundbreaking for the construction of infrastructure by the Ministry in 10 primary and secondary schools in the area.

“We are all here to witness the government’s commitment towards the development of education structures and facilities in this Country,” CS Machogu said

Education CS further urged the Gusii community to discard the retrogressive attitude towards the education of the girls.

He asked them to shun the Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) practice saying it retards the girls’ education thus deterring their future success.

CS Owalo reiterated the government’s determination to revive the country’s economy through the bottom-up economic model.

“We will ensure that the bottom-up model is successful because it favors the common man.” He said.

The area leaders appealed to the community to cooperate with the government of the day in order to reap more development from it.

Others present during the event were Kuria West MP Mathias Rioba and Odiso Ogenga(Nyatike) among other leaders and education stakeholders.
