Machakos Boys wins Eastern region soccer to reach nationals for first time

Machakos Boys soccer team which is heading to nationals after beating Isiolo Barracks High School to win the regional title.

In an electrifying showdown at Kitui School, Machakos Boys emerged as the eastern region football champions, securing a hard-fought 2:1 victory against Isiolo Barracks in the finals.

Originally slated to face Simisi Boys in the finals, Machakos Boys found themselves up against Isiolo Barracks after Simisi Boys were disqualified following a successful appeal by Isiolo. This unexpected turn of events only added to the drama and intensity of the final match.

For Machakos Boys, this triumph marks their debut appearance at the nationals, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting journey ahead.

In the girls’ category, Kibauni Girls claimed the soccer championship with a decisive victory over St Brigid Syomunyu Girls.

Meanwhile, Kwanthanze Girls showcased their dominance in volleyball, crushing Nduluni Girls 3-0 to retain their regional title. Syumile Girls also shone brightly, emerging victorious in netball against Kanjiapau Girls.

The Syumile principal couldn’t contain her excitement as her team now heads to Kisii for the nationals.

The boys’ Rugby 7s saw Meru School overpower Kangari School, while Muvuti Girls triumphed over St Theresa in the girls’ Rugby 7s.

In basketball, Mbooni Boys clinched the regional title after a thrilling win over Machakos School. Mbitini Girls also celebrated their victory over Ikutha Girls.

Rounding out the regional victories, Matiliku Boys dominated Itaara Boys 3-0 in volleyball and will join the other champions at the nationals.

The Eastern regionals were a showcase of talent and determination as the teams hope for the best at the nationals to be hosted in Kisii County.
