KUPPET Narok boss applauds newly elected NEB officials, expresses confidence in leadership

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers (KUPPET) Narok branch Executive Secretary Saruni Tasur has congratulated the KUPPET newly elected National Executive Board (NEB), expressing confidence that the team will effectively steer the union for the 2026–2031 term.

The elections, held at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani Gymnasium on Saturday, brought together delegates from across the country in a closely watched contest that culminated in the selection of a new leadership team.

The elected officials include Chairman Omboko Milemba, Vice Chair Julius Korir, Secretary General Akello Misori, Deputy Secretary General Moses Nthurima, Treasurer Mwethi Njenga, Assistant Treasurer Mary Rotich, Organising Secretary Paul Maingi, Secretary Secondary Edward Obwocha, Secretary Tertiary Sammy Chelanga, Secretary Gender Juliet Kimotho, Assistant Secretary Gender 1 Idza Mwanje, Assistant Secretary Gender 2 Lawrence Kiragu, Assistant Secretary Gender 3 Amran Ibrahim and Secretary JSS Boniface Omari Tom.

In his congratulatory message, Tasur described the election as a strong expression of trust by teachers, noting that the new leadership carries high expectations from members across the country.

“On behalf of all the teachers of KUPPET Narok branch, I extend my sincere congratulations to all the elected officials. Your election is a clear indication of the confidence teachers have in your ability to lead and advocate for their welfare,” Tasur wrote

He expressed optimism that the new National Executive Board is up to the task, stating that the union requires strong leadership to address persistent challenges affecting teachers, including working conditions, career progression and timely resolution of workplace concerns.

Tasur further emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration between the national office and branch leadership saying that effective coordination will be key in strengthening the union’s bargaining power.

He called on teachers to rally behind the new team, urging members to offer full support as the officials take up their mandate.

“This is a moment for unity. We must all support our leaders so that they can deliver on the expectations placed upon them. When we work together, we achieve more for teachers,” he added.

Tasur assured the new leadership of the Narok branch’s commitment to cooperation and engagement, noting that branches remain a critical link in ensuring teachers’ issues is addressed efficiently.

He expressed confidence that the new team will build on past achievements and usher in a stronger, more responsive union that will serve teachers effectively across the country.
