The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) Homabay branch elections will on February 28 at Kendu Bay showground.
Branch chairman Jack Odhiambo told Education News that voting will start at 8am for all eligible members to get an opportunity to cast their ballots.
Ten Branch Executive Committee (BEC) positions will be contested during the branch elections, where Odhiambo and his team will defend their seats.
Odhiambo said some members had stopped the election of Burial Benevolent Fund (BBF) officials in court but that will not hinder the BEC elections as they wait for a verdict.
“We had initially planned that both elections to be held together but now that of BEC will proceed as scheduled for 28th of this month.” explained Odhiambo.
The elections were initially held on January 22nd but were nullified following disagreements that erupted between candidates over alleged election malpractices.
The outgoing leadership say they have achieved much union and deserve another chance to lead members amidst strong opposition from other candidates who accused them of stuffing marked ballot papers in boxes.
