The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Bomet branch Gender Secretary have urged teachers living with disabilities in Bomet County to actively participate in the ongoing NCPWD and KRA Income Tax Exemption vetting exercise to safeguard their welfare and ease their financial burden.

Speaking in her office, Evalyne Chepkirui Sanguya called on all teachers with disabilities to turn up at their respective vetting centres, terming the exercise critical to their economic well-being.

The unionist said the vetting process, conducted by the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) in collaboration with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), is aimed at facilitating income tax exemption for eligible Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

“I particularly encourage our women and men who are ably different to attend the exercise in the various vetting centres. Let us turn up and claim this right that eases the financial burden on PWDs and their families,” she said.

She emphasized that the tax exemption is a lawful entitlement designed to cushion PWDs from additional financial strain and improve their quality of life.

Sanguya further noted that vetting centres should be decentralized and made more accessible across all counties, saying many applicants face financial strain, fatigue and logistical challenges when forced to travel long distances to towns such as Eldoret, Nakuru, or Nairobi for the exercise.

She said bringing the services closer would enhance inclusivity and ensure no eligible teacher is left out due to travel costs or physical limitations.

The gender secretary further reminded applicants to strictly adhere to the document requirements, warning that no vetting will be conducted without original documents.

Applicants are required to carry both originals and copies of mandatory documents, including the NCPWD Registration Certificate (new generation card), eCitizen application receipt showing proof of application before the portal closed on March 22, 2026 and the NCPWD eCitizen payment receipt.

They must also present the original Medical Assessment Form from a government hospital, duly signed and stamped by the County Director of Medical Services, a letter of introduction from their employer on official letterhead stamped by the TSC Sub-County Director, their latest payslip, and a valid Tax Compliance Certificate.

The unionist reaffirmed its commitment to championing inclusive welfare policies and ensuring teachers living with disabilities fully benefit from protections and entitlements provided under the law.
