The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) has released the official pools for the 2026 National Term Two Games, officially setting in motion the race for national school sports glory ahead of a week of competition at MPESA Academy in Thika, Kiambu County, running from July 28 to August 1.
The championships, sponsored by KCB Bank, will bring together the country’s top secondary school teams competing in football, rugby sevens, volleyball and netball, with regional champions from across Kenya seeking to assert their dominance on the national stage.
In the girls’ netball tournament, Western Region champions Bukokholo Girls have been drawn in Pool A alongside Moi Girls Kibwezi, Andersen Mixed School and Asumbi Girls. Pool B brings together Kinale Girls, Raila Education Centre, the North Eastern Region representatives and Kaya Tiwi Girls.
The volleyball competitions have also produced closely matched pools. In the girls’ category, Western champions Mwitoti Girls headline Pool A, where they will face Kahuro Girls, Kwanthanze Secondary and the North Eastern Region representatives, while Pool B features Kesogon Secondary, Mwanambeyu Girls, Aluor Girls and Soweto Academy. In the boys’ competition, Western Region champions Malava High School lead Pool B alongside Ruthimitu Mixed of Nairobi, Moi Forces Academy from the Coast and Matiliku Boys of Eastern Region, while Pool A comprises the North Eastern Region representatives, Chepsaita High School, Masara Secondary and Kiambaa Secondary.
Rugby enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to, with the boys’ Rugby Sevens draw assembling some of the country’s strongest rugby-playing schools. Western champions Bokoli Boys have landed in Pool A alongside Nairobi School, Anjego Secondary and All Saints Embu, while Pool B pits Butula Boys against Upper Hill School, St. Anthony’s Kitale and Kamuiru Boys. Former champions Laiser Hill Academy headline Pool D, where they will battle Cardinal Otunga Mosocho, Kwale High School and Kitondo School.
The football pools have similarly produced blockbuster fixtures. In the girls’ category, Pool A brings together national football powerhouses Kaya Tiwi Girls, St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale, Kiriathini Girls and Nyakach Girls, while Pool B sees Western Region champions Archbishop Njenga Girls take on Raila Education Centre, hosts Thika Girls and Misuuni Girls.

In the boys’ football competition, defending regional champions and traditional giants have landed in highly competitive pools. Western Region champions Kakamega High School headline Pool B alongside Ruthagati Secondary of the Central Region, Tumaini Secondary of the Eastern Region, and representatives from the North Eastern Region, entering the tournament with high expectations after an impressive regional campaign. Pool A is equally daunting, bringing together Tenwek High School of Rift Valley, Tononoka Boys of the Coast, St. Mary’s School Yala of Nyanza and Highway Secondary School of Nairobi in what is expected to be one of the toughest groups at the championships.
With the draws now complete, schools have turned their focus to final preparations, with coaches fine-tuning tactics and players sharpening their skills ahead of the national showpiece.
Beyond the pursuit of trophies, the KSSSA National Games remain Kenya’s premier platform for unearthing emerging sporting talent, with scouts from universities, clubs and national youth teams expected to monitor standout performers throughout the week keenly.
As the opening whistle draws closer, anticipation continues to build for what promises to be a thrilling week of school sports in Thika, where regional champions, seasoned contenders and ambitious debutants will battle it out for the coveted KSSSA national titles.
