The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has moved to address growing concerns from students over delays in feedback on course and campus transfer applications, clarifying that approvals are strictly dependent on the availability of vacancies.
KMTC explained that transfer requests are not automatically granted, and applicants who do not receive communication should consider their applications unsuccessful.
“Please note that a course change is subject to the availability of vacancies in the preferred programme. If your request has not been successful, it means that no vacancy is currently available in the course you selected,” KMTC stated.
The clarification comes after complaints from students who said they had waited for nearly three months without updates. One student questioned why applicants were not informed of the outcome of their requests, regardless of whether they were successful.

KMTC emphasised that both course and campus transfers depend entirely on vacancy availability, adding that the same criteria apply to students seeking transfers between campuses.
Applicants are required to submit their requests through the institution’s official online admissions portal by logging in, selecting the relevant transfer service, completing the required details, and submitting their application. Successful applicants are then notified via SMS.
The college noted that while frustrations are understandable, the transfer process is designed to ensure fairness and transparency, with approvals only possible when slots exist in the preferred programme or campus.
