 KMTC board and Bungoma Governor partner to boost medical training in the County

Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Board of Directors has embarked on a transformative partnership with Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka to strengthen medical training in the region.

The high-level discussions, held during a courtesy call, focused on expanding infrastructure, securing land titles, seconding teaching staff, and upgrading hospitals to facilitate specialized training.

Speaking on behalf of the KMTC Board Chairperson Joseah K. Cheruiyot; Hardlyne Lusui lauded the county government’s unwavering support.

“Training healthcare professionals is a shared responsibility, and together, we can create an environment where students excel,” she posed.

Governor Lusaka outlined plans to elevate healthcare education, announcing that Bungoma Hospital will be upgraded to Level 6 within six months.

He also revealed that Kshs 250 billion has been secured for the construction of Misikhu Hospital, a project set to ease congestion in clinical training areas and enhance student learning experiences.

“We are committed to ensuring that KMTC students receive the best possible training. Investing in healthcare education means investing in the well-being of our communities,” Governor Lusaka stated.

He further pledged to explore financial aid options, including bursary schemes, to support KMTC students.

The partnership signals a major step toward improving healthcare education and medical service delivery in Bungoma County.
