Kitui Central MP dishes out bursaries worth Sh47 million

The Kitui Central Constituency Member of Parliament, Dr. Benson Makali Mulu has given out Sh47 million in bursaries to a total of 12,573 students across his constituency.

The MP gave out the bursaries at an event he convened at Kitui Central Primary School in Kitui Town that was attended by the parents, guardians and students. Among the 12,573 successful applicants; 2,801 were from the Kyangwithya East Ward, 2,625 from Kyangwithya West Ward, 2,780 from Mulango Ward, 2,626 from Miambani Ward and 1,741 from Kitui Township Ward.

“I am happy that you the parents have committed themselves to take the children to school. We are glad as leaders,” Mulu said, adding that, he did not convene such a meeting in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Mulu announced that he has constructed the office for the Kitui Central District Officer (DO) within the Kitui Town’s Manyenyoni Estate at a cost of Sh15 million from National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) kitty.

The parliamentarian further announced that he is in partnership with the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) to put up a studio for the good of the local artists. The studio is also within the Kitui Town’s Manyenyoni Estate.

“All the services for the artists including the recordings of the gospel songs and music at the studio will be totally free. Should any worker at the studio ask you to pay even a single cent, do notify us,” the MP said.

He said that the NG-CDF National Board has given his Constituency Sh4 million as appreciation for their good work.  He further announced that he is going to construct a storey building at the Kitui Central Primary School at a cost of Sh6,000,900 during the current financial year.

The politician assured the Kitui Central constituents that he will continue serving them effectively and efficiently as their MP. He requested the local women to repay the Uwezo Fund loans for that money to help other people

The occasion was also addressed by the Kitui Central NG-CDF Manager Ben Kinyalili and the Kitui Township Location Chief Benedict Kitheka Makuthu who is also the Union of Kenya Civil Servants (UKCS) National Vice Chairman.
