- Kitondo School has attributed its success at the Eastern Regional Music Festival to consistency and hard work.
- The school qualified two items for the national Kenya Music Festival despite joining the competition only last year.
- Music patron Eliakim Mutinda says strong leadership and learner commitment have driven the school’s rapid progress.
Kitondo School Music Patron Eliakim Mutinda has attributed the school’s success at this year’s Eastern Regional Kenya Music Festival to consistency, dedication and teamwork.
Speaking after the conclusion of the regional competition at ACK Wote Township Comprehensive School, Mutinda said the school’s rapid rise in music competitions demonstrates that sustained effort yields results.
According to Mutinda, Kitondo School only joined the Kenya Music Festival last year, with the regional level being its highest achievement at the time.
This year, however, the school has qualified two items for the national Kenya Music Festival.
“We only started participating in music festivals last year, and the highest level we reached was the regional competition. We continued working hard, and today we have qualified two items for the national festival. The boys are very committed to every assignment they are given,” he said.
Leadership support
Mutinda credited the school’s principal for providing the support needed to strengthen the music programme despite stiff competition from established boys’ schools.
He said co-curricular activities play a vital role in nurturing well-rounded learners by developing their talents, confidence and enthusiasm beyond the classroom.
