Residents of Nyamache Sub-county reiterated their call for the government to repair the bridge in the area, which has distracted students, teachers, and traders.
They said that the bridge was swept by heavy rains three years ago. However, it took the National and County Governments a long time to show interest in solving the problem.
“We convened many meetings with officials from the government, but they kept tossing us around until they promised to come to our aid.
The residents feared for their school-going children’s lives, who had to cross the tangling and sagging bridge to Ridge School, especially during the rainy season.
Others who chose to use alternative long routes to escort their children to school accused boda boda operators of taking advantage of their misery and extorting them by charging them double the riding fare.
