A 17-year-old boy from Nyansakia Location in Bomachoge Chache Constituency, Kisii County, has become an internet sensation after videos showcasing his remarkable gospel singing talent went viral on social media.
Kegoncha Omodapsy, as he is popularly known online, has won the admiration of thousands of Kenyans through his heartfelt performances of Christian songs, despite facing challenges that forced him to drop out of school at an early age.
Born and raised in Nyansakia, Kegoncha’s education was interrupted after he experienced learning difficulties associated with a mental disability. His family lacked the resources and information needed to enroll him in a special needs institution, leaving him without access to formal education for several years.
His hidden talent came to light when a local resident recorded him singing gospel songs and shared the videos online. The clips quickly spread across TikTok, Facebook, and WhatsApp, drawing widespread praise from Kenyans who were touched by the passion, emotion, and sincerity in his voice.

The project is currently underway, with community members continuing to offer financial, material, and moral support.
Speaking at his home in Nyansakia Village, Kegoncha expressed gratitude for the support he has received and revealed his dream of joining a special school once the house is completed.
“I want to learn how to read and write gospel songs. I will sing in the house of God forever,” he said.
Residents say Kegoncha’s rise to fame has inspired hope and unity within the community. Many view his success as a powerful reminder that persons living with disabilities possess unique talents that can flourish when given the necessary support and opportunities.
