Kisii MCA urges parents to invest in education

Masige East MCA Michael Motume

Member of County Assembly (MCA) of Masige East, Kisii, Michael Motume has urged parents to invest in education as it yields greater returns than any other endeavour.

Speaking during a prayer day event at Rigoma Secondary School, the MCA urged parents to be present in their children’s lives to understand their character, thereby enabling them to address their issues effectively when they arise.

He also encouraged them to establish a consistent line of communication with teachers, rather than only engaging during prayer days, final examinations, or result releases, where reactions often oscillate between praise and criticism, depending on the outcomes.

Additionally, Motume advised parents to ensure their children have access to adequate learning materials, diligently track their progress, and patiently await positive results, cautioning against subjecting their children to parental disappointment while expecting academic excellence.

The school’s Principal Reuben Onyancha expressed confidence in achieving impressive results in the upcoming KCSE examinations, with 39 candidates aiming for a mean score of 6.2, up from 4.8 in 2022.

Onyancha further implored parents to enrol their children in larger numbers, highlighting the school’s modern, well-equipped classrooms.

He also promised a one-year scholarship for any form one student who scores 300 marks and above in this year’s KCPE examinations.

The Principal additionally extended gratitude to supportive parents, a few partners, and the area Chief while appealing to other well-wishers to contribute towards the school’s growth.
