JSS LABORATORY CBC EDUCATION

Kiserian Junior Secondary (JSS) School in Kajiado North Constituency has become the first government school in Kajiado County to get a modern laboratory.

The laboratory was officially opened by Cabinet Secretary for Roads, Transport, and Public Works Kipchumba Murkomen.
The construction was funded by Kenya Ports Authority(KPA) at a cost of Sh 2.5 Million through Corporate social responsibility.

The fully equipped laboratory will serve more than 350 grade seven students.

Murkomen said the laboratory will improve the performance of students, and noted that the government is committed to ensuring students access quality education.

“I’m a CS because of education, we were squatters but invested in education and students should have the discipline to be successful in future, ‘ he said.

He urged schools to allow co-curricular activities, which is enshrined in the new CBC.

Murkomen gave a personal donation of Sh 1 million towards the construction of the school administration block and will give Sh. 4 million from govt agencies towards the construction of the new structure.

The CS also directed the upgrading of the school’s sports grounds and the construction of Gabros to improve school accessibility during rains.

He commended area MP Onesmus Ngogoyo for reaching out to KPA to fund the construction of the laboratory.
Ngogoyo said the government recommends every JSS to have a laboratory and will support govt in the implementation of the education agenda.

“The laboratory encourages more students to have an interest in sciences at a young age,” the MP said.
The MP noted that he will continue to seek support from the private sector and govt agencies to support education and complement NGCDF.

Kajiado North NG-CDF also allocated Ksh 7 million for the renovation of the school’s classrooms.
The school has a population of 2,500 and it is among the schools with a high number of students in the county.
