Friends Mixed Senior School Kimobo delivered a commanding performance at the Mt Elgon Sub-County Games, emerging as one of the standout institutions across several sporting disciplines and securing qualification for the upcoming Bungoma County Games.
In a gripping girls’ volleyball final, Kimobo overcame Kibuk Girls 3–2 in a thrilling five-set contest.
The match was closely contested from start to finish, with set scores of 25–14, 21–25, 23–25, 25–23 and 15–13. Kimobo displayed remarkable resilience, recovering after falling behind to secure a memorable victory.
The boys’ volleyball team also impressed, defeating Kaptama 3–0 in the final.
They controlled the match throughout, recording set wins of 25–9, 25–23 and 25–15 while demonstrating strong coordination, discipline and tactical awareness.
Success Across Disciplines
Kimobo’s dominance extended beyond volleyball, with the boys securing a 10–5 victory over Kapso in another final encounter.
The girls further strengthened the school’s reputation with emphatic victories, including a 40–0 triumph over Kibuk and a 19–10 win against Kongit, highlighting the depth of talent within the institution.
County Games Beckon
Following the strong performances, Friends Mixed Senior School Kimobo has booked its place in the Bungoma County Games, where it will compete against other top schools from across the county.
The school has been drawn in Pool B alongside Bukembe, Rocho and Milo, setting up a competitive group-stage challenge.
Pool A comprises Teremi School, Mukuleswa, Bokoli and Kibabii.
Pool C features Kabula Boys, Maliki Boys, Kimaeti Boys and Marobo Secondary School, while Pool D consists of Terem School, Chesamisi Boys, St Juliana Narati and Namwela Boys.
Confidence
School Principal Moses Cheluch expressed confidence in the teams’ ability to maintain their strong form at the next level of competition.
He said the results reflected discipline, teamwork and dedication in training, adding that the school remains committed to supporting the teams as they prepare for the county championships.
Cheluch also expressed optimism that Kimobo would continue its impressive run and compete strongly for honours at the Bungoma County level.
