Gospel musician Reuben Kigame has warned parents with disabled children against locking them in houses instead of taking them to school.
Speaking during Mulembe Unified Networking Forum, Kigame lamented that most disabled children are not taken to school.
He pointed out that the disabled have been sidelined even in government programmes, raising the levels of stereotypes higher among ordinary folk.
The public was asked to remember the time the late President Mwai Kibaki was sworn in while on a wheel chair, yet went on to serve the nation for ten years.
He asked the community to report cases of disabled children being kept away from school so that the forum can come to their aid.
