KICD releases a full list of approved textbooks for schools

The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has released a full list of textbooks for schools ahead of reopening next week on January 6.

The agency says it has released the books to help parents prepare for the opening of schools by buying required books ahead of time.

The approved books is for Pre-Primary level to Grade 9 of Junior School.

The agency also wishes learners, teachers and parents a happy new year 2025.

KICD also informs all stakeholders that textbooks in the rationalised learning areas following the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms recommendations are being finalised after evaluation in November/December 2024. These are single books for Grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 in Agriculture, Creative Arts and Sports, Integrated Science, Social Studies and Pretechnical Studies.

These books will be distributed to public schools and made available in the open market in the course of the First Term.

In the meantime, the Institute assures stakeholders that the books approved earlier before the rationalisation and that are listed here are relevant and should be used with reference to the Curriculum Designs.
