Kesses MP disburses Ksh 32.6 million bursary to needy and bright students

Kesses Member of Parliament (MP) Dr. Swarup Mishra has distributed bursary worth Ksh 32.6million to bright and needy secondary students in his constituency.

Speaking during the disbursement of the cheques at Hill primary school recently the legislator said his aim is to ensure that no bright and needy student stays at home due to lack of school fees.

“I have disbursed Ksh 32.6 million to all the 47 day and boarding schools in Kesses Constituency. 1,375 students have benefited from the same,” said Dr.Mishra.

He maintained that the process of identifying the needy students to be awarded bursaries was done on merit.

He said he is determined to invest majorly in education as it yields skilled and competent products who are the cornerstone of the country’s development.

Dr Mishra further warned school heads against misusing development fund saying that they should be able to account for every cent they have been given.

“I want to urge the school heads to ensure accountability when spending public or private funds. Any mismanagement of public funds will not be tolerated,” said the Kesses legislator. 

Dr Mishra also urged President Uhuru Kenyatta through the Ministry of Education to increase teachers pay saying they go through a lot to ensure students get quality education.
