Kesses Member of Parliament (MP) Julius Ruto has hit out at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)   for transferring teachers away from his constituency.

While speaking to the press, Ruto said that it was sad that in one of the schools in the area, more than ten teachers had recently been transferred.

“Over one hundred teachers have been transferred without replacement. How does TSC expect our schools to perform well without teachers? We will not tolerate such actions anymore, especially regarding the employment of teachers,” he said.

Ruto said that the transfers have left behind a great deficit in public schools which will further deteriorate education standards in the area.

“There is a great number of qualified teachers who are not employed. Why can’t the Commission employ more teachers to fill this gap?” he posed.

The Legislator called on the National Assembly Education Committee to summon TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia to answer why the transfers were made without proper consideration.

Ruto also urged the Ministry of Education to ensure that they disburse capitation funds to all public schools to ascertain that learning proceeds without disruption.

“My plea to the government is that it should ensure that all schools are well financed and on time to reduce the rate at which children are being sent away for fee arrears,” he said.
