The education fraternity in Kericho County is mourning the death of Mwalimu Dominic Langat, a teacher who passed away at Litein Mission Hospital.
Langat, the son of Joel Philip Kirui Chumo, popularly known as Kapkamai, of Tiroto Village in Cheboin, died on Wednesday night while receiving treatment at the hospital.
At the time of his death, Langat was teaching Chemistry and Physics at Kusumek Secondary School, where he continued to serve learners until his demise.
Long career in education
He had previously taught at Litein High School for many years, earning a reputation as a dedicated educator who contributed to the academic development of his students.
His death has left family members, colleagues, students and friends mourning the loss of a teacher whose career was devoted to education and mentorship.
The family is appealing for financial assistance to help clear a hospital bill and meet funeral expenses estimated at Sh500,000.
Friends, relatives, colleagues and well-wishers are meeting daily as they prepare for fundraising activities scheduled for September 9 at his family home in Tiroto Village, Cheboin, and September 10 at Kusumek in Ainamoi, his permanent residence.

The funeral service and burial will be held at Kusumek on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
The family has appealed for prayers and financial support as they prepare to lay their loved one to rest.
