The Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI) has invited serving and aspiring school leaders to enrol for its Premier Diploma in Education Leadership and Management (DELM), with the next intake scheduled for January 2027.
The programme is designed to strengthen leadership and management competencies among education professionals and equip them with skills required to improve curriculum delivery, resource management, learner wellbeing and overall institutional performance. According to the invitation issued by KEMI CEO Dr Maurice Odondo, the programme is open to principals, deputy principals, heads and deputy heads of institutions, senior teachers, heads of departments and other aspiring school leaders seeking to enhance their leadership capacity and professional development.
The one-year programme will be delivered online through facilitated sessions and self-paced learning on the KEMI Learning Management System. Participants will also undertake practical assignments and an Action Research Project. KEMI says the programme covers key areas including education law, policy and reforms, transformative educational leadership and management, institutional resource management, learner-friendly schools, ICT integration, curriculum delivery, science, technology and innovation, guidance and counselling, as well as action research.

The institute describes the training as part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of education managers to provide effective leadership and improve institutional outcomes. KEMI, a semi-autonomous government agency under the Ministry of Education, is mandated to provide management training, conduct research and offer consultancy services in the education sector.
The total course fee for the January 2027 intake is KSh25,000, inclusive of graduation fees, according to the notice. Interested applicants have been directed to register through KEMI’s payment portal, where they are required to select “New Trainee,” enter their TSC number, ID number or PF number, complete the registration form and select payment through M-Pesa.

KEMI’s current information on the DELM programme confirms that the course is offered online and is aimed at principals, heads of institutions, deputy principals, heads of departments, senior teachers and teachers aspiring to leadership positions. The institute has continued to expand its leadership training programmes as schools navigate changes in curriculum implementation, institutional management and education policy.
