KCPE candidate goes missing in Mbeere

By Musyoka Kaleti

Police and locals in Makima, Mbeere South sub county have mounted a search for a 17-year-old KCPE candidate at Kakindu Primary school after he went missing yesterday.

While confirming the incident, Makima Location Senior Chief Charles Ngari said the candidate was yesterday evening sent by his mother to fetch water in the nearby Thiba river but failed to return.

His delay caused suspicion leading to his mother going to look for him at the river.

To her surprise she only found his shoes, and the cart he was to use to ferry water together with cows, beside the river.

Kennedy Macharia Kanini was to sit for his day two KCPE papers today but his desk remained empty for the better part of the day.

The Chief said they cannot rule out drowning while swimming given the abandoned shoes or an  attack by crocodiles or hippos that lurk in the river.
