Kanyawanga high school alumni have paid a year’s school fees to a student who was unable to join Kanyawanga high school due to lack of school fees.
John Otieno Odhiambo was still stuck at home in Awendo sub county as his parents weren’t able to raise money for fees and other requirements needed for his form one admission. He was expected to join form one early last month.
John at one time walked to Kanyawanga high school, 20 kilometers away from ancestral home, to plead with the school’s administration to give his parents more time to source for funds to educate him.
His father, Benrad Odhiambo Odero thanked the school administration and the old boys for coming to his son’s rescue saying the Almighty should reward the former students for supporting the education of needy students in secondary schools.
He added that last year, the old boys association helped 100 bright students to secure chances in schools they were offered admission.
Carrilus Ogola and Benard Ogola, who represented the old boys association during the official ceremony at the school, pledged to support other bright and needy students.
They also urged other learned people to do the same. They argued that Nyanza’s lost education glory will be reclaimed if leaders team up to assist bright and needy learners and shun divisive matters.
The school’s principal Jacob Mbogo hailed the old boys for considering the welfare of local residents and coming to their aid in their time of need. He also thanked them for funding the construction of modern science laboratories in Kanyawanga.
Silver Dean Company promised to support bright needy students.
