Kaiti Member of Parliament (MP) Joshua Kimilu has handed over a new school bus worth Ksh9.5 million to Isovya Secondary School, a project funded through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) to enhance student mobility and exposure through educational activities.
Speaking during the handover ceremony at the school, Kimilu said the bus would ease transportation challenges faced by the institution, which is located in a hilly area.

He noted that the vehicle would enable learners to participate in academic trips, symposiums and co-curricular activities at a lower cost compared to hiring transport services.
“The school will now be able to attend various events more conveniently. Owning a bus is more cost-effective than hiring one, as the school will only need to cater for fuel and maintenance costs,” said the MP.

Kimilu also urged parents to take advantage of the ongoing midterm break to engage with their children through guidance and counselling, citing the recent rise in cases of student unrest in schools.
“Let us all play our respective roles to ensure discipline is maintained in our schools. We do not want to witness more strikes. Parents should be present in their children’s lives, while students should listen to their parents and focus on their studies. They are the future and have the potential to transform their families’ lives,” he said.
Isovya Secondary School Principal Benjamin Kimiti thanked the MP for supporting the institution, saying the bus would greatly improve the school’s transport needs, especially during educational trips and academic forums.
Kimiti revealed that the school currently has 436 students and recently recorded 38 university qualifiers. He expressed optimism that the number would rise to at least 50 in the next academic year.
“We appreciate the support from the NG-CDF and the MP. The bus will be a valuable asset in facilitating learning beyond the classroom and supporting the school’s growth,” said the principal.
