Kaimosi, Jaramogi to benefit from cooperation between Kenyan-Russian government

Kaimosi Friends University and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology is set to benefit from the Russian- Kenyan government ties and collaborations through cooperation in key areas that will uplift the livelihoods of the local population.

This was revealed by Rushian Ambassodor to Kenya Vsevolod Tkachenko who said his government has identified green energy, medical services, and education as key areas of potential cooperation.

Speaking when he visited Kaimosi Friends University and  Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), Amb. Tkachenko disclosed that he has been on a fact finding mission in Western Kenya Counties of Vihiga, Siaya and Kisumu with the mission to find out how the locals in the region live and also identify their needs and necessities.

“This is my first visit to western Kenya and I’m here to find out how the region lives and also identify their necessities. I want to thank the leadership of Vihiga, Kisumu and Siaya counties for engaging with me to see possible areas like green energy, education and medical services for potential cooperation. I hope my visit to the region will strength the cooperation and relation between the two countries,” said Tkachenko.

The Ambassador was flanked by Siaya senator Dr Oburu Oginga and his Vihiga counterpart Godfrey Osotsi.

Dr. Oburu said that the Ambassador was acquainting himself with the people of Kenya as he is barely six months in the country adding that after identifying existing gaps, potential areas of collaboration will flow naturally.

He revealed that Amb. Tkackenko has discussed with both the Universities on areas of cooperation in terms of scholarships, exchange programs and research.

On his part senator Osotsi disclosed that talk are underway for possible cooperation between Kaimosi friends University and JOOUST universities in kenya and Mgimo and Rudn universities in Russia of the areas of research and scholarships.

“I want to confirm that the process is still on and it will culminate to cooperation between the universities in the two countries.
