Kabarnet High School Chief Principal Julius Ndirangu has offered a full scholarship to a bright but needy student, Edmond Kiprono Katengi.

The development comes after the Baringo Journalists Association highlighted the plight of the 14-year-old boy who boldly reported to the school with only his admission letter, accompanied by his grandmother.

While addressing the press in his office, Ndirangu lauded the initiative by the journalists and urged the society to be on the lookout for children from humble backgrounds who are yet to enroll to school to curb the rising cases of school dropouts.

He said that the school, through its Board of Management (BoM), was committed to fulfilling its mandate of assisting the poor as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The Chief Principal singled out cases of students who have benefited from the school and have joined reputable universities within and beyond the country.

Baringo County Commissioner Sangolo Kutwa, who swiftly aided the student in buying personal effects, noted that there is a need for the community to fully embrace education.

The administrator also asked local leaders to support needy children to realize a bright future through education.
