PS reaffirms State’s commitment to develop schools’ infrastructure

The Government is determined to support infrastructure development in schools as one of its obligation to enhance a conducive environment that allows education to thrive, Basic Education Principal Secretary (PS) Belio Kipsang has said.

In a statement read on his behalf by the Rift Valley Regional Director of Quality Assurance and Standards Mr. Lawrence Kaburu during Kabarnet High School’s Annual General Meeting-cum-Prize Giving ceremony, Dr. Kipsang’ said the Ministry is determined to develop requisite structures to ensure required skills are imparted to students countrywide to meet job market demands.

He said that the government is committed towards allocating funds to empower the institutions so that they are able to achieve competitiveness among global education systems.

While extolling significant strides made by the school on the Information Communication Technology (ICT) front, the PS noted that the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) had embraced it as a useful tool in its delivery countrywide.

Dr. Kipsang mentioned that the curriculum change from the 8.4.4 system to CBC was a major deliberate paradigm shift to strategically orient the country with peers regionally and globally in enhancing technological competitiveness.

He reiterated that despite gaps in the new curriculum, the government was poised to maintain high standards to allow for credibility and application within and beyond.

The school Chief Principal Mr. Julius Ndirangu lauded the government for supporting the institution saying the massive support will help the school implement its programmes.
