Tragedy struck on the Kisumu–Kakamega Road this evening when a bus carrying mourners overturned at the notorious Coptic Roundabout, killing 21 people on the spot.
Nyanza Regional Traffic Commander Peter Maina confirmed the fatalities, describing the incident as one of the deadliest in recent months.
The bus, belonging to a secondary school, was transporting mourners when it overturned at the blackspot roundabout.

Emergency responders, including police and medics, rushed to the scene to assist survivors and recover bodies.
Several injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.
The Coptic Roundabout has long been flagged as a high-risk location due to its sharp bends and history of fatal accidents, prompting renewed calls for enhanced road safety measures in the region.
