The Principal of Nyansiongo High School Ezemiel Okeyo has been attacked by unknown goons at his residence in Nyamira County.
According to his wife Zipporah Okeyo, the perpetrators, concealed by masks, kidnapped Okeyo’s brother, manipulating him to gain access to his home during the late evening hours.
“They came in with my brother and said that he was under their arrest and was assisting them with investigation because they were police officers,” she said.
She narrated how they invaded her room and abused their children sexually after ransacking the house for 8 hours.
The Principal said that communication with the outside world was severed when they confiscated mobile phones, rendering the family utterly helpless.
Additionally, the thugs also targeted the residence of Nyamira County’s Executive Committee Member (CEC) in charge of education, Kennedy Momanyi.
They vandalized electricity connections and absconded with valuables.
It wasn’t until dawn that the victims of this egregious attack were able to report the matter to the police, seeking swift intervention.
Nyamira County Governor Amos Nyaribo strongly condemned the attack, attributing it to political motives orchestrated by his adversaries.
Despite this, he remained resolute, emphasizing that such acts would not deter the support he garnered.
Other leaders, including Kengen Board Chairman Walter Nyambati, decried the rampant crime in the region, pointing fingers at the perceived laxity of local security agencies.
They called upon the police to ensure the safety and security of the populace, especially during times of economic uncertainty.
Nyamira County Commissioner Onesmus Kyatha confirmed the attack and issued a directive to law enforcement to track down the suspects, apprehend them, and bring them to justice.
He urged residents to provide any information that might aid in the apprehension of the culprits, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.
Kyatha promised a thorough investigation and called for calm among the residents during this challenging time.
