A Grade 2 school girl has died and her friend hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle in a grisly accident outside their home in Kemboa village, Kisii county.

Police authorities from Ogembo said that the two minors were playing at their compound’s gate, which neighbours a rough road, when the speeding vehicle lost control and hit the children.

They were immediately rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) where Teresiah Marigiri of Tendere Primary School succumbed to injuries as her colleague underwent treatment.

“The girl was brought here with critical injuries, we tried to save her life in vain,” said Marita Oimekea, a doctor at KTRH.
