Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has received international recognition after being conferred with the prestigious title of International Eminent Peace Ambassador by the International Association of World Peace Advocates, a distinction that acknowledges his leadership, commitment to peace, and transformative development initiatives in Kiambu County.

The honour comes as recognition of the governor’s efforts in advancing social development, education, and community welfare, particularly through programmes aimed at improving the lives of children and vulnerable families across the county.
Speaking after receiving the award, Governor Wamatangi expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as both a personal honour and a testament to the collective efforts of the people of Kiambu County.
“I am humbled to have been bestowed with the title of International Eminent Peace Ambassador by the International Association of World Peace Advocates,” said the governor.
The international body also commended the county government’s significant investments in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), which have become a flagship component of the governor’s administration.
Among the initiatives highlighted were the constructions of modern model ECDE centres across the county, the implementation of a comprehensive school feeding programme, and the provision of free learning materials to young learners.

These interventions have been credited with improving access to quality education, enhancing enrolment rates, and creating a conducive learning environment for children in their formative years.
The association noted that the county’s education reforms align closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education, Goal 2 on Zero Hunger, and Goal 1 on No Poverty.
Under Governor Wamatangi’s administration, Kiambu County has invested heavily in upgrading educational infrastructure, ensuring that children from all backgrounds have access to quality learning opportunities. The school feeding programme has particularly been lauded for addressing child nutrition challenges and improving school attendance among learners.
Residents and education stakeholders have welcomed the recognition, saying it reflects the progress the county has made in strengthening social services and investing in the future of its children.
