The County Government of Bomet has commissioned two newly constructed Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) classrooms as part of efforts to improve learning infrastructure and create a conducive environment for young learners.
Governor Prof Hillary Barchok commissioned the new Ngainet ECDE classroom in Chemagel Ward and the Chebango ECDE classroom in Kipsonoi Ward during his development tour of Sotik Sub-County on Monday.
The facilities are expected to provide learners with improved and safer spaces for early childhood education, while easing pressure on existing classrooms in the two areas. The projects form part of the county government’s efforts to strengthen ECDE infrastructure and improve access to quality early childhood education across the county.

Speaking during the commissioning, Prof Barchok said his administration would continue implementing development projects at the grassroots level to address the needs of local communities. He said investment in ECDE infrastructure remains important in laying a strong foundation for children before they progress to primary education.
The governor also assured residents that the county government would continue prioritising development across various sectors, with a focus on ensuring that the benefits of devolution reach communities in all wards.

The Department of Education, Youth, Sports and Vocational Training said the projects would contribute to the county’s broader efforts to improve the quality of ECDE services and provide learners with better facilities. The commissioning comes as county governments continue to play a key role in supporting ECDE through infrastructure development, staffing and provision of learning resources.
