Kisii County Government will intensify prenatal care at its health facilities to promote the health of mothers and children and ensure the perpetuation of communities.
County Governor Simba Arati made this statement while attending to an emergency case at Magena Dispensary in Bomachoge Borabu Constituency.
“We shall provide high-standard care to pregnant mothers and their unborn babies because healthy bodies translate to a healthy nation,” he said.
Arati, accompanied by top health officials and county security personnel, condemned the death of a pregnant mother at the facility due to alleged negligence by the staff.

Chance Ratemo was taken to the hospital on Monday, complaining of labour pains. The nurses on duty admitted her, instructed her to lie on the bed, and wait until her time to give birth arrived.
Her labour pains intensified at midnight, prompting her to cry out for help, but her pleas were ignored. It was not until dawn yesterday that her roommates discovered she had passed on. They alerted the doctor and nurses, who allegedly fled, leaving her body on the bed.
Relatives of the deceased reported the incident and demanded that the hospital staff be held accountable for the alleged negligence. As of today afternoon, the body was still lying in the maternity ward when Governor Arati and his team visited the facility.
The Governor promised lawful action against the hospital staff, stating that if found culpable after police investigations, they would face the full force of the law.
“These are the things we have always condemned, and I appeal to the police to conduct thorough investigations and furnish my office with the findings for action,” he said.
Governor Arati, flanked by the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health, Ronald Nyakweba, urged the affected family to remain patient as the police conducted independent investigations into the matter.
