Former Bungoma High School Principal Enock Andanje collapsed and died on Friday while attending a Widows’ Empowerment Forum in Malava.
Witnesses say Andanje appeared to be in good spirits earlier in the day but collapsed just minutes before taking the microphone.
Efforts to resuscitate him proved unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
The rally, attended by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and political strategist Farouk Kibet, was part of ongoing campaigns ahead of the Malava Constituency by-election.

Andanje, who made headlines in 2022 for unveiling a Ksh3 million gate at Bungoma High School, had recently joined politics and declared his intention to contest the Malava parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
The seat fell vacant following the death of MP Malulu Injendi, prompting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to schedule a by-election for November 27, 2025.
His sudden death has shocked the education and political fraternities, with leaders and former colleagues paying tribute to his service and dedication both in the classroom and in public life.
Authorities are yet to release details on the cause of death.
